Geography
Malaysia, the truly Asia country, is located in the heart of Asean. The Peninsular Malaysia is surrounded by Malacca Straits and South China Sea on the east and west respectively, whereas on the north and south are our friendly neighbours Thailand and Singapore respectively.
Two other beautiful states are referred as East Malaysia, they are Sabah and Sarawak. They are located in Borneo, the world third largest island and the largest in island in the Asia region. These two states are well known with their tropical rainforest with more 7000 types of plant and insects.
Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia.
History of Malaysia
Malaysia was a British colonial prior to 31st August 1957. It makes up of 13 states and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan. Nine of the states have their sovereign monarchs or better referred as SULTAN.
A unique and peaceful rotation system allows the nine SULTAN to be elected as ‘the King” or referred as “Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Yang Dipetuan Agong” for five years.
Malaysia is practicing democracy as a constitutional monarchy since its independence 31st August 1957. The Parliament of Malaysia is the national legislature of Malaysia, based on the Westminster system. The bicameral parliament consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The King or Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Yang Dipetuan Agong as the Head of State is the third component of Parliament.
The Parliament assembles in the Malaysian Houses of Parliament, located in the national capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
Population
According to the data release from the Statistics Department of Malaysia under the Population Projection 2010-2040, there are 32.7 million populations in the year of 2021.
Malaysia is a multiracial country with Malays, Chinese, Indian, Sikh, Kadazan, Iban and others.
Language
Bahasa Malaysia is the national language, but most Malaysians are fluent in English. Indeed, English is the lingua franca of the corporate business in this truly Asia country, Malaysia.
Other languages, Mandarin and Tamil is also widely used by Malaysian.
Currency
The unit of currency in Malaysia is known as Ringgit Malaysia, or better known as RM.
Time
The time in Malaysia is eight hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time.
